‘Environmentalist Stewart’ allows Sewer into Rural Crescent?

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

Stewart starts off his second term proclaiming he wants to refocus his attention on to environmental issues; and what is his first step?  He allows sewer into the Rural Crescent.  There’s an old saying, ‘With friend’s like this who needs enemies’.  If this is how Stewart intends to protect the environment, we should all go out and hug a tree because it won’t be long before the entire County is paved over.

It appears as if the Board applied situational ethics.  According to Marty Nohe,

Our job is not to necessarily follow the clear ideological path, but to look at each situation individually

Unfortunately, the problem with using this ’situational ethics’ approach is that it puts us on a slippery slope for all future requests.  Additionally, as you encroach into the Rural Crescent there will always be another adjacent property that claims it isn’t fair that their next door neighbor has sewer but they can’t.

But, probably more disturbing though, is the fact that the Board went behind closed doors to work out a deal which is expressly forbidden.  There seems to be a consistent theme with this elected body, whether it be with the ‘Immigration Resolution’ or Open Space Plan or rezoning applications, there is no transparency in their governing.  And we are left wondering, what’s going on behind closed doors…

The countdown is on, 3 years 362 days…

Friday, November 9th, 2007

The countdown is on, 3 years 362 days until we can remove the dastardly duo of Stewart/Stirrup from power.  Let me clarify the term, “we” by “we”, I mean the voters of Prince William County.  For those who need clarification, or are clamoring for a ‘legal disclaimer’ here you go -

According to the DC Examiner,
Stewart proposed slashing funds for nonprofit of Stirrup’s rival

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Interesting article entitled, ”Stewart proposed slashing funds for nonprofit of Stirrup’s rival” tells how Chairman Stewart proposes to use the funding from the Greater Prince William Community Health Center to fund the ‘crackdown on illegal immigration’.  The executive director and a founder of the Woodbridge nonprofit health clinic is non-other than John Stirrup’s opponent in the race for Gainesville District Supervisor - Corey Riley.

Stewart Stew

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

It appears Corey Stewart has put gotten himself into some really hot water.  Whether or not he is able to emerge unscathed is yet to be seen but it’s not looking good.  Stewart has used $31,000 from a board discretionary fund for what appears to be a campaign advertisement.  The wording on the mailer matches his singular campaign message ‘fighting/cracking down on illegal immigration’ and appears to be targeted because not all county residents have received it and it comes within 30 days of an election cycle.

Here is the text of the flyer.

[Update:  The flyer was originally suspected to be ‘targeted’ but upon further investigation it was found to have been sent to all Prince William County Residents’.]

Time for Stewart’s Private Legal Defense Fund

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Yesterday the Woodbridge Worker’s Committee filed suit in Federal Eastern District Court against Prince William County.  Now’s the time to take Stewart up on his offer of setting up the privately funded legal defense account that he suggested.  Let’s see how many PWC citizens put up or shut up.
